Johnny Gaudreau Tears Islanders After Recent Game

Johnny Gaudreau Inadvertently Wrecked The Islanders and Their Fans

Johnny Gaudreau just delivered a kill shot.

In an interview with ESPN’s Emily Kaplan, Johnny Hockey gave a pretty modest quote. However, it just so happens that the quote was one of the most polite disses I’ve ever seen.

All throughout their 4-3 loss on Saturday night, the fans of the New York Islanders let him hear it. They were ticked off because Gaudreau did not pick Long Island to be his new home this past offseason. However, Gaudreau quickly made it clear that the Islanders weren’t even close to being on his radar.

“I was talking to my coach after the third shift, and I was like, ‘I don’t get it,'” Gaudreau told ESPN. “I didn’t talk to [the Islanders] once throughout the whole free agency.”

This is a great reminder to never listen to fake news. Throughout the beginning of free agency, so-called “insiders” reported traction between Gaudreau and the Islanders.

But there was no smoke or fire. All that’s left is yet another bad look for the Islanders and Lou Lamoriello, who have failed to lure in the “big fish” of free agency for the past four offseasons.

You can make your own conclusions as to why Gaudreau picked Columbus. Hockey Guy Trey is on the money when it comes to that team. I personally thought that he would invigorate the offense, but that has just completely failed to materialize in front of a bottom-five defense. If anything, Long Island looks like a much better fit.

Take It In Stride, Isles

While they can’t seem to catch a break off the ice, the Islanders are actually putting together a pretty good start to this season. They’ve racked up 22 points in their first 17 games, good for second in the Metropolitan Division and fourth overall in the whole league. Under new coach Lane Lambert, the offense has definitely shown many more signs of life compared to Barry Trotz‘s tutelage. A player like Gaudreau in the mix would truly turn them into a legit contender rather than sitting on fraud watch.

Johnny Gaudreau threw the Islanders fanbase into the bonfire. They were all getting gassed up over a player who had zero interest in considering Long Island. As a fan, all I can say is this: KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ICE!
